Hans Vögtli

As the painter’s grandson, Hans Vögtli has devoted himself to his grandfather’s artistic legacy since childhood. The vivid stories about his grandfather, whom he never had the chance to meet because he was born in 1946, two years after Voegtli’s death, came from his father, Hermann Voegtli. Hans Vögtli grew up in German-speaking Switzerland, where he spent his school years. After his technical education, he began his studies in the marketing field and graduated with an official diploma in Sales and Marketing. Hans Vögtli, who in the meantime has become a successful investor in the real estate sector, has been endeavoring to complete his grandfather’s art collection for more than 40 years. He has contributed to a catalog book published in 2007, containing various pictures and anecdotes of the almost forgotten artist.

During his research work, he came across diverse works by Voegtli in various Swiss museums and the artists’ colony Hellsau, which was the frequent meeting place for renowned artists such as Giacometti and Hodler. Hans Vögtli’s passionate love of art drives him to make his grandfather’s work known beyond the Swiss region. In 2017, he traveled to Kunming, Zurich’s sister city, to accompany the first and largest multinational ‘Voegtli Exhibition` organized by Pashmin Consortia. After that exhibition, other exhibitions followed in other Chinese cities and Europe. It’s Hans Vögtli’s special wish to create a fitting ‘artistic tribute’ to his grandfather for his hometown of Biel.
